Little Moments

Wednesday night Utah County received quite a snow storm! Although not entirely uncommon to this area, after a couple spring days of 70 degrees it's not always welcome. However, it did provide for quite the picture out my office window on Thursday morning. I've always loved when the trees catch the snow like this.

I mention the annoying snow, and the beauty of the picture in conjunction with the title of this post. Each of us goes through life, much of which ofttimes is rather boring, mundane, or in some cases much worse. Yet in the midst of the noise and distractions, if we pay close enough attention, we will recognize short precious moments that make everything else worth while.

Some recent examples from my life are; catching the sunrise just before the snow melted off the trees, helping a brother realize he really does know algebra, noticing our tulips are blooming, having a close friend drop by to offer comfort during illness, finding extended family on facebook, recognizing friends at the temple, and the smiles my son gives me when he wakes up.

As time moves forward on this roller coaster we call life, may we all make a greater effort to pause for those little moments that make us smile... even if it is snowing in April!
